Q.Do you handle cloud (AWS) or are you more of a CI/CD setup expert?
R.Both, with a preference for initial architecture and runbook. AWS/GCP setup from scratch (IAM, VPC, containers, observability), CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). For day-to-day run, I prefer training you and handing over — healthier for your team.
Q.What engagement formats?
R.Setup fixed-price (full infra or pipeline rollout over 2-4 weeks), one-off mission (infra audit, recurring incident fix, CI refactor), mentoring if you want to skill up in-house. Day rate possible for urgent firefighting.
Q.What stack do you support?
R.AWS primarily (ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Route53), GCP secondary. Docker containers, Kubernetes orchestration when relevant (and only when relevant — not by default). Terraform for IaC. Monitoring: Datadog, Grafana, Sentry.
Q.What's the typical kick-off timeline?
R.1 to 2 weeks for planned setup. For prod firefighting or an ongoing incident, I can step in the same day if available — an email or Slack and we get on a call within the hour.
Q.Do you transfer skills to my team?
R.Always. Runbook documentation, presentation screencast, Q&A session with your team. The goal is for you to maintain the infra autonomously within 1 to 3 months. No dependency on me for routine operations.
Q.How do you handle incidents and on-call?
R.During the engagement, I'm reachable for critical incidents (Slack + personal number). Off-engagement, I can stay on retainer on-call (monthly fee for 2-3 incidents/month on average) if you want a safety net after handover.
